Start With a Known-Good Cable and Source
Connect a source device that you know works on another display and use a known-good HDMI cable. Select the TV input manually. If possible, test both the suspect source and cable on another television or monitor.
Test Every HDMI Port
If one HDMI port fails but the others work, the problem may be isolated to that connector or its circuitry. If every HDMI port fails while the TV's built-in apps and menu work normally, the main board becomes a stronger possibility—but software, HDCP, resolution, and source compatibility can still matter.
Power-Cycle the Entire HDMI Chain
Turn off the television and source device, unplug both for about a minute, reconnect the HDMI cable, then power the TV and source back on. HDMI handshakes can fail without permanent hardware damage.
Check Source Resolution and Settings
A source configured to output an unsupported format can create a blank screen or no-signal message. Return the source to an automatic or commonly supported resolution when possible.
Inspect the HDMI Connector
With power disconnected, look for bent or recessed pins, a connector that moves excessively, or obvious physical damage. Repeated side-loading from heavy cables can crack solder joints or damage the port itself.
When the Main Board Becomes a Stronger Suspect
On most modern TVs the HDMI ports are mounted directly to the main board. If multiple known-good sources and cables fail on multiple HDMI ports, while the TV menu and internal apps still function, a main-board input failure becomes more plausible.
Do Not Order a Main Board by TV Model Alone
One TV model may use several main-board revisions. Find the assembly/service number on the original board and compare the complete identifier with the replacement listing.
