Vizio TV black screen troubleshooting guide
Need repair help? Send us your TV brand, full model number, and the part number printed on the original board. We can help you narrow down the correct replacement before you order.

When a Vizio TV powers on but the screen remains black, avoid jumping straight to the main board. A black screen can come from several different sections, and a few simple observations can quickly narrow the search.

Confirm the TV is actually staying on

Watch the power indicator and listen for menu sounds, startup audio, or connected-device audio. If the TV immediately shuts back down, treat it as a startup/shutdown problem rather than a simple no-picture condition.

Use the flashlight test

If you can see a very faint image with a flashlight, the panel is producing an image but the backlight is not illuminating it. That points toward LED strips, LED-driver circuitry, or the power supply section feeding the backlights.

Check the video path if the backlight is on

If the screen glows but shows no picture, the T-Con, panel ribbons, main-board video output, or panel can be involved. A uniformly lit gray/blue screen is a different clue than a completely dark panel.

Match Vizio boards by the right identifier

Many Vizio replacement assemblies are sold under 756TX-style numbers, and serial ranges can matter. Use our Vizio part-number guide to verify the exact board before ordering.

Before you order a replacement

Photograph the original board label, the TV model/serial label, and the connector layout. Compare those details to the replacement listing and avoid ordering only from appearance. If you are unsure, contact us with the photos before purchasing.
